The Chapel Society was organized to provide a house of worship for Fairbanks, a small hamlet of farms, shops and mills located five miles north of the shire town. The churches of Farmington cooperated to send their pastors to preach the word on Sunday afternoons. Today, Fairbanks Union Church, a Presbyterian congregation, continues to serve Fairbanks and the greater Farmington area by providing weekly worship and offering many community services.
